Mixed media still life with red pot

I did this painting as a kind of experiment in newspaper collage - I don't think it's worked so well, but I like aspects of it!

Afternoon tea with lilies

This painting was commissioned by a lovely lady in Scotland. She asked me to paint a few specific things of sentimental value to her, and left the rest up to me. I had always wanted to paint the black chinoiserie cupboard I have in my living room, and I thought it would look good in the background behind the lilies, giving the painting an Oriental feel. But painting that chinoiserie cupboard wasn't as easy as I had thought! I enjoyed painting the lilies, although for me, that was the hardest part. I used only 5 colours of paint in this painting - white, cadmium red (deep), prussian blue, sap green and yellow ochre.

Here are some photos of the progress of the painting:

Mother and Child painting

This Mother and Child painting was painted jointly by both my husband and myself as a gift to HH Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi on the occasion of Christmas celebrations in Rome 2009.

works in progress

This is what I'm in the middle of right now - my first ever 'house' landscape. I love this view from my son's window looking over the other backyards and backs of the houses in the next street. I'm trying to paint this at about 9-10am when the sun is just coming round onto the back gardens. There's a lot of work still to do - it's hard enough keeping my colours from getting muddy, let alone getting the right shade of grey/brown for the fences!

I started this one about 3 years ago in my living room and have never finished it. Now I will never be able to set this still life up again because I don't have those eucalyptus leaves anymore! Unfortunately I don't have a photograph either. Excuse the moiré - difficult to avoid it shooting at close range.
I have no idea where this painting came from or where it's going... I touch it up every year or so but it tends to remain the same. It's one of those that come out of one's head without knowing why!
